Many people have said that the president of the United States, FDR, at the time knew that Pearl Harbor was going to occur. The reason being is that the US navy intercepted a message from Tokyo going to the Japanese embassy stating that they were going to end relations with the United States and that there was a war declaration between the US and Japan. They even got a multiple warnings that Pearl Harbor was going to happen before the Japanese attacked. But the most shocking warning they got was the "Winds code", which was a fake weather report on a Japanese short-wave station, that stated "higashi no kaze ame" which in English translates to "East wind, Rain". You are probably thinking what does that have to do with the Japanese attacking pearl harbor? But the US had seen this before and it was a Japanese code for war with the US. So with all this evidence, Why would Franklin D. Roosevelt not alert the people? It was simple, He needed something to motivate the people to go into WW2. By having the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor it motivated the people for war, that way FDR did not look like the bad guy and forcing us into the war.
